The practice caters to a wide variety of clients with approximately 50% public sector, 20% private sector and 30% high-end single family projects. This mix of project types provides a stimulating variety of work experience. Although each project is a unique solution, we have developed a number of specialized skills:
Working with a team of consultants we have evaluated numerous facilities to outline development and/or upgrading options to determine project feasibility.
These projects often require an in-depth evaluation of existing facilities to determine a strategy for expansion, improved space utilization and seismic upgrades. This usually requires negotiating "equivalent" building code solutions and has often required that the upgrading is implemented while the premises are occupied. We have developed systems for cost analysis and cost control for these complex projects.
Working with diverse academic committees, we have a great deal of experience in programming, budgeting, documenting and implementation of complex academic, laboratory and special function educational facilities which in most cases involves co-ordination of sophisticated computer, audio visual and special laboratory equipment.
We have worked as prime consultant as well as subconsultant for a number of asbestos abatement projects which required extensive remedial work.
We have completed a number of projects for clients and the modular building industry to utilize modular construction for temporary and permanent facilities. Modular construction can offer unique design opportunities.
We have been responsible for establishing design guidelines for a number of subdivisions, as well as buildings, and following through the enforcement of the design guidelines.
From log homes to churches we have an intimate knowledge of heavy timber construction, detailing and finishing techniques.
This very personal service caters to discriminating clients who require high quality design solutions for often challenging sites. Each home embodies a unique expression of the context and program of our clients.
Computer Technology for design and drafting, project management and office administration was first implemented in 1987 and has been upgraded regularly to maintain productivity and efficiency. We run the latest Autocad on networked workstations with a high speed internet connection to facilitate rapid exchange of information with consultants and clients. More recently, 3-d computer modelling software has been used to clarify the design through all design stages.
